The Record Newspaper’s editor and publisher, Lawrence Sobczak, was recently elected to the board of directors of the Michigan Press Association (MPA) by its members.
The MPA was established in 1868 to represent the interests of newspapers in Michigan and it has more than 320 members that reach readers in every corner of the state.
“I am honored to represent my colleagues in this organization,” Sobczak said. “Having successfully founded a newspaper more than seven years ago, I hope to share insight on navigating a truly tough era for the industry.”
Sobczak graduated from Wayne State University with a degree in journalism and has been a practicing journalist for more than 30 years.
He founded The Record in 2015 after The Romeo Observer and The Armada Times closed their doors.
