OCTOBER 5 ISSUE ANSWERS (photo to right): Remember when gas was 25 cents a gallon? When the service staff met you at your car window, to take your credit card into the office and process it, returning with your card and receipt? This was after they topped off the water in your radiator, checked and maybe added oil and washed your windshield. Some even checked the air in your tires. The photo of the Armada Oil and Gas Company shows attendants Carl Pettibone on the left and Ford Hulett on the right. These Armada men exemplify a spirit of enterprise evident in the sparkling business around them. This 1920’s Fulton Street station like the Congregational Church spire visible in the background have long since vanished. Armada archives
