TO THE EDITOR:
I read your article endorsing Meagan Poznanski for village president and wanted to second some of the points that you made. I think it’s important for people to understand when you vote you are not just voting for the candidates’ positions on specific topics but also for the person; how they behave, how they treat others, how they speak to other people and most importantly, their integrity. I want our president to display leadership by showing how to work with others, display respect when speaking to others and show full transparency for all trustees and residents.
I have had many opportunities to speak with Meagan regarding different topics and she has always made me feel like I could share my thoughts and concerns with her. I believe her ability to work with others and represent all sides of an issue are a huge positive for the village and something that we desperately need right now. Our village deserves a positive leader who will treat others with respect even if they don’t agree on a topic.
We should have access to the village office five days a week. Our village trustees should be able to gather information they need in order to do their job without having to jump through hoops. Meetings should be open and always have a quorum. Detailed meeting minutes should be available upon request and posted. Meagan has continued to raise these issues over the past four years and continues to fight for transparency. Government should work for the people.
I believe Meagan Poznanski will lead our Village by being fiscally responsible and transparent. She has shown her dedication to the village through service on the board of trustees, Downtown Development Authority and in our community. You may not agree with all her policies but you can trust that she will be honest and forthcoming on her position as well as her dedication to all of the village residents, not just those who agree with her. She will listen and make decisions that benefit our community as a whole.
