JULY 13 ISSUE ANSWERS (photo to right): Jail time, too much partying? According to Officer Dalman of the Romeo State Police post intoxicated drivers are taken to the County Jail in Mount Clemens for eight hours or until they can pass a breathalyzer test. Years ago Marshal George McCluskey in Armada would lock up offenders of the spirits in the above shed located on Torrey Street. Rumor has it that the rear storage room in Gray’s Opera House was a lock up at one time. In the current Romeo Historical Society Archives museum on North Main, which was the Romeo State Post in the past, you can see the three locations where an arrested individual was handcuffed to the wall. The cuffs and manacles are still there. The individual was soon escorted to the County Jail. Come in and try on a set of “toy” handcuffs. No one gets to use the real ones.
