APRIL 21 ISSUE ANSWERS (photo to right): As the photo label says, this is the (northeast) corner of St. Clair and Main Street in Romeo. This is the location of the current Shell gas station. The two story brick building was known as the Lembke Building on the left and the Arnold Building on the right. The sign on the Arnold Building says, Welcome Sweet Shop, Meals, Lunches, Sodas, Sundaes and Ice Cream. It was also the location of the Romeo Department store and the Romeo Bakery, and later Kroger. The gas station shows a rather interesting gas pump. The photo was taken before 1934 because of the age of the cars and the Romeo tornado has not twisted the Methodist Church tower yet. The High Hat Restaurant and the Dodge dealership are not showing between the two-story building by the alley. Romeo Historical Society
