LISA GRANDSTAFF

Lisa Grandstaff, 53, of Romeo, died Monday, Dec. 30 2024. She born on March 1, 1971 in Pontiac to William and Peggy (Askew) Grandstaff.

She graduated from Romeo High School in 1989 and earned her bachelor’s of art degree in early childhood education from Rochester University in 2005. Despite being dyslexic, she loved to read and earned a masters of arts degree in reading with a reading specialist credential from Northern Michigan University in 2016. She presented her master’s thesis on visual literacy at the Michigan Reading Association Conference in 2017.

Lisa was, at her cored, a phenomenal teacher, and loved working with young children both in Kindergarten and Preschool. She had a gift for getting kids to love books and be excited about learning. She went out of her way to ensure her classrooms were always welcoming, engaging, warm places for children and their families.

When not teaching, Lisa was an avid baker and sharing those treats was her love language. She partook in all types of crafting and made a point of supporting local artisans. On annual trips to Northern Michigan, she would hunt for Petosky stones and fossils, often saying her birthstone was sea glass.

She is survived by her parents, Bill and Peg Grandstaff of Romeo; sister, Erin (Dave) Nestle of St. Joseph; sister, Sarah Grandstaff of Mount Pleasant; nieces Elizabeth and Isabel Minnie Nestle; and nephew, Brandon Nestle.

She will be remembered most for her generous heart and kind soul.
