David Joseph Bickmann, 90, of Imlay Township, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2025. He was born on Jan. 2, 1935, in Center Line, the son of John and Valeda (Vinette) Bickmann. On Oct. 8, 1955, he married Margaret Stevens at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Richmond, beginning a marriage that would last 62 years.
David was a devout Roman Catholic and a devoted husband and father. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, enlisting in March 1955.
David was a skilled entrepreneur, owning Industrial Broom Service and working as a machine builder at Taurus Manufacturing Company. He was also passionate about music, playing in the polka band, Music Makers, with his brothers, John and Donald. The band performed for many years at various venues in Macomb County, sharing their love of polka music with the community.
He is survived by his children, Michael (Barbara) of Washington Township, Donna (Patrick) Schweiger of Casco Township, Daniel (Mary Kay) of Williamsburg, David (Kendra) of Imlay Township, Linda (Daniel) Lazurka of Croswell, Maryann (Robert) Bullock of Capac and Mark of Lapeer. David’s legacy also lives on through his 20 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is further survived by his sister-in-law, Kathleen Bickmann.
David was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret, in 2017; granddaughter, Joanna Lazurka; sisters, Theresa Stevens, Lorraine Deschamps and Leona Mays; brothers, John and Donald; brothers-in-law, Charles, Richard, Frank, Robert, Donald, and James Stevens; and sister-in-law, Lois Baker.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 68035 South Main Street, Richmond. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorial donations or contributions be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or family wishes.
