PUBLIC NOTICE – NOTICE OF REGISTRATION FOR THE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2024 WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, MICHIGAN

TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP:

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that any qualified elector of Washington Township, and not already registered, may register to vote at the office of the Township Clerk; the office of the County Clerk; a Secretary of State branch office, or other designated state agency. Registration forms can be obtained at www.mi.gov/vote and mailed to the Washington Township Clerk. Those who have a valid Michigan driver’s license or state ID may register to vote or update their voter registration online at www.mvic.sos.state.mi.us/registervoter .

The last day to register in any manner other than in-person with the local clerk is Monday, October 21, 2024. After this date, anyone who qualifies as an elector may register to vote in person with proof of residency (MCL 168.492) at the Washington Township Clerk’s office, located at 57900 Van Dyke Rd. Washington Township., MI 48094 at the following times:

• Regular business hours: Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

• Saturday November 2nd from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

• Election Day, Tuesday November 5th from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that Washington Township will be voting on the following; for the purpose of placing electing candidates for the following offices and voting on the following proposals:

PRESIDENTIAL: President and Vice President of the United States

CONGRESSIONAL: United States Senator, Representative in Congress 9th District

Continuation of Macomb County E 9-1-1 Surcharge

For the purpose of continuing funding for 9-1-1 emergency call answering and dispatch services within Macomb County, shall Macomb County be authorized to assess a surcharge of up to $0.42 per month on all service users, except for users of a prepaid wireless telecommunications service, located within Macomb County for a period of four (4) years, effective from July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2029?

Proposal to Elect a Charter Commission for the Purpose of Generally Revising the Home Rule Charter of the County of Macomb

Shall the county of Macomb elect a charter commission for the purpose of generally revising the Home Rule Charter of the County of Macomb and framing and submitting to the electorate of the county a revised home rule charter for the county under the constitution and laws of Michigan?

Village of Romeo Millage Restoration Question

Shall the authorized milage for the Village of Romeo for all authorized Village and general municipal purposes, established at 12.5000 mills ($12.5000 per $1,000 of taxable value) and reduced by the Headlee Amendment and Proposition A to 10.2076 mills ($10.2076 per $1,000 of taxable value), be increased by, and shall the Village be authorized to levy up to, an additional 2.2924 mills ($2.2924 per $1,000 taxable value) to restore the original rate to a new, restored limitation rate of up to 12.5000 mills ($12.5000 per $1,000 taxable value).
