Larry Pallister, 76, of Romeo, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born July 19, 1948, the beloved son of Howard and Carroll Pallister.
A lifetime resident of Romeo, Larry graduated from Romeo High School with the Class of 1966. After high school, Larry served in the Army Reserve and later embarked on a successful career at General Motors, retiring as a Facilities Manager at the GM Tech Center in Warren. Larry had a passion for golf and cherished his time on the course with friends.
For the past 20 years, Larry and his wife Sharon split their time between Romeo and their treasured place in Caseville, which Larry fondly referred to as his “happy place.”
Larry is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Sharon Pallister (Walker); his daughter Kristin Durand (spouse Mike Durand); his son Jeffrey Pallister (spouse Leslie Pallister); and his grandchildren, Bryce, Jacob, Hunter, and Paisley, who were affectionately known as “Papa’s Pride.” Larry proudly displayed his love for his grandchildren with a tattoo on his left shoulder bearing all their names.
Larry was known for his boundless energy, always engaged in the next side project around the house, maintaining a meticulous yard, enjoying some motown with a good cigar, walking their dog, or watching his grandkids participate in their many activities. He had a great sense of humor and a quick wit that endeared him to many.
In his final years, Larry bravely faced the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease, which overshadowed his vibrant personality, but glimpses of his spirited nature still shone through.
Per Larry’s wishes, there will be no funeral service, and his body will be cremated. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in Larry’s honor, in the mission of finding a cure.
