Ilene Margaret (Schuchard) Lock, 97, of Romeo, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Sept. 20, 1926, in Detroit, the daughter of William and Margaret (Brower) Schuchard. She was married to Marshall S. Lock for 52 years before his passing in 2000. Together they had three children: Thomas (Vicky) Lock, David (Annette) Lock and Peggy Klauer.
Ilene worked alongside her husband at Lock’s Cleaners in Romeo and was an active member of the Romeo United Methodist Church where she hosted the Lenten fish fries for many years. She was known in the community for her beautiful flower gardens and earned her master gardener degree from Michigan State University.
She is survived by her children, David and Peggy; brothers, James (Janet) and John Schuchard; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Ilene was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Adeline (Osier) Schuchard; son, Thomas Lock, daughter-in-law, Vicky Lock; grandson, Dennis Peternel; brothers, Robert, Richard, and Donald Schuchard; and sisters, Thelma Ryan, Shirley Marks and Marilyn June.
Funeral services are private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Romeo United Methodist Church or the Romeo District Library.
