JUNE 8 ISSUE ANSWERS (photo to right): This photo is of the Armada Elevator which was first opened in the 1870’s. Sinclair Finch and Clyde Stump were the original owners of the elevator. Clyde Stump lived in the stone house at 73875 Fulton Street. The Grand Trunk Railroad delivered and shipped product for the elevator. Other businesses were developed nearby including a stock yard and barrel factory. White navy beans were a mainstay and were shipped in 100-pound sacks to the east coast cities. Currently the Hollweg family owns the elevator and produces pet, bird and animal feed. The exposed non-white sided structure shows the original building technique. Did this part of the building hold grain in vertical columns like the similar structure on M25 just south of Port Austin? R. Beringer, Romeo Historical Society staff
